Rock climbing is one of today’s most challenging and dangerous kind of sport in which participants are challenged to climb up or across a natural or man-made rock walls with a goal to reach the summit. It is a physically and mentally demanding sport.
Rock climbing is not definitely the game for those people with low endurance, strength, agility and balance and poor mind concentration. It is a dangerous sport that requires knowledge of proper climbing techniques and usage of climbing equipment for a safer completion of routes. Just like a soldier going out of war, preparation is the key before you go out for your rock climbing adventure.
There are different types of rock climbing, knowing them would be beneficial to you. Knowing what type of rock climbing you are going to will help you on deciding the best equipment and gear to buy necessary for your climbing activity.
One of the most popular method of rock climbing today is aid climbing. In these particular type of climbing, the progressed is achieved by repeated placement and weighing. Aid climbing requires the use of aid climbing gear which include cams, pitons, bolts, nuts, and hooks that holds the climbers weight as he ascends upward.
Traditional rock also known as Trad Climbing usually does not involve predefined routes that have permanent anchors. Trad Climbing is quite risky for some beginner. Because it does not have routes that has can provide permanent anchors, the climbers would be more likely to be at risked of falling as he ascends to the wall.
Bouldering is another emerging type of rock climbing that usually involves climbing on low routes with the use of ropes and is usually limited to very short climbs over a crash pad, cushion foam that will catch a climber as he falls in order not to result in a serious injury. It is the safest form of rock climbing, and is widely used today for safer climbing competitions.
Safety always comes first to a wise climber. When going out for a rock climbing, I always make sure that I never leave my favorite rock climbing harness behind. For me, ensuring your very own safety comes first before anything else. Never go on a rock climbing without it.
